When I moved into this cabin, the thought that I was disconnecting myself from the outside world was really appealing. Two weeks in, I remember waking up and thinking that I’d made some horrible mistake. I decided to take some steps to reemerge into the culture that I’d left behind. I’d been without cable for a good 10 years, so I was used to that, but what I really found myself missing was the internet. The next weekend I went to my sister’s house and did some research. She recommended her service provider and we went to http://get.wildblue.com/pricing.html to help decide which package I’d need and how much it would cost me. I was pleasantly surprised that for being in such a rural area that the process of getting me set up was not that bad. In no time at all, I was back online, with a new appreciation for all things internet. I now spend at least an hour each day surfing around. I check my email and then read the news. I like to think that I am getting the best of both worlds.
