I love my children. Chloe, 4 years, and Finn 19 months, are my heart and soul. But, I do not love bath time. These kiddos LOVE to get in there together. They splash, color and have an overall good time. The bath process is not so fun for mommy. Leaning over the edge of the tub kills my back.
Tub Safety Benches
Butt Bench makes wooden shower benches and tub safety benches. They were created for women to make it easier to shave your legs without sitting on the edge of the tub. But, I immediately thought about the ease of bath time for the kids. The benches come in cedar or pine. The pine is also available in pink or white. All the benches are sealed with waterproof sealant and come with suction cups on the back to secure them in place.
The instructions for setting up the Butt Bench were very straightforward. On the back edge of the bench are two cup that you can slide left and right to avoid the tile grout lines on the shower. (The cups won’t stick to the grout lines.) You wet the cups and stick them to the wall.
The bench is intended for shaving and was effective for that use, however, bath time for the kids was the real test. Sitting on the bench was a comfortable alternative to sitting on the edge of the tub. I was able to wash their hair and bodies without kneeling on the floor and hunching over the edge. This saved my back a lot of pain. The bench is also an effective shelf for bath supplies, freeing up the edge of the tub that is usually lined with an array of shampoos, conditioners and body washes.
