I have had my personal devices for years now. Like many of you I have adhered to the philosophy that you never open up any emails sent to you from an unknown source. Part two of the same philosophy is to never visit a site you are unsure about. Up to this point both of these tactics have worked flawlessly. Even with my desktop computer I use these practices, and my desktop computer had an anti-virus software installed as well. For years I have been safe and protected from malware and other vicious programs designed to corrupt and steal personal information. Until now.
Until now? You’re probably confused as to what “until now” is supposed to mean. I’ll tell you what “until now” means, it means now that I have the worst virus medium ever created. The most subversive and malicious intruders I have ever let into my personal devices. My children. That’s right, my two boys are masters of the personal device. My oldest is 4 and the youngest is 2, but they swipe, search, and download like seasoned professionals. Their nimble little digits take them from Malware to Virus to Trojan like well trained super ninjas. It’s breathtaking, and devastating all wrapped into one.
I have found that keeping my personal devices protected is a full time job now. Sure, utilizing those “old school” techniques is still a solid practice, and for the most part will keep you safe from harmful threats. Is it enough?
