How To Lose Weight When You Travel

So, it has been 4 weeks since joining the Nutrisystem program and I could not be more excited about my results! I started at 220 and this morning my weight was 212, giving me a total loss of 8 pounds. I am completely surprised and proud of myself to have lost 2 pounds in 2 weeks as I traveled for part of that time. We are from Atlanta and moved to Tennessee almost 12 years ago. My oldest daughter still lives there and we visit as often as possible. When we travel, part of our enjoyment is eating at favorite restaurants. In the south, many of these restaurants serve southern fare, and a lot of that is fried. I was super nervous to be on the road while trying to lose weight on my Nutrisystem program. Luckily, my nutrition counselor, Julia, was there to guide me every step of the way.

Of my Nutrisystem foods, I packed what I thought would be able to make while on the road. Our hotel room did not have a microwave, so I had to wait until I got to my daughter’s to make any of those meals. Thankfully, Nutrisystem has plenty of grab it and go foods like their Cinnamon Roll for breakfast or their Double Chocolate Caramel Bar for lunch. These are a lifesaver when you are traveling and trying to stay on your food plan. For my restaurant meals, I was able to send Julia the menu and she chose several options that would allow me to stay on my plan without falling completely off the wagon. Now don’t get me wrong, I totally splurged a few times, but Julia was encouraging and made me feel so much better about it. That birthday cake, buttered roll and fried green tomato were not exactly what I was supposed to be eating, but it is okay. What mattered was that I got back on track once I got home. Unfortunately, I pulled a muscle in my neck while I was gone and exercising has been very difficult. I am almost healed and hope to be back on the treadmill in a few days. So if you are away from home and want to know how to lose weight when you travel, Nutrisystem is the way to go! I cannot wait to see where my scale lands on my next weigh in! See you in 2 weeks!

  1. I love that you brought some of the foods with you. I think it would be hard for me to stick to a diet when traveling. I also like that you were able to send over the menu for ideas on what you should eat.

    Most people gain weight while traveling, just breaking even is an accomplishment. Having lost 2 pounds while on the road really speaks to the program. I just love the great variety and flexibility of the NS snacks and meals.

  3. I love Nutrisystem! I used it a few years ago and lost a lot of weight. It was a good experience for me.

  4. It’s amazing how many hotels have microwaves right in the rooms. Every one that I’ve been at recently has had either that or access to a microwave in a common area. I’ve never thought about packing something like this to take with though. Good for you on keeping your presence of mind regarding your diet… even during travel!
