Are you a fan of movies or musicals? I am actually on the fence for this one because I love both just about equally. I was in the drama club in high school and some of my best memories are of those times. I remember when we did the musical “Damn Yankees” and I had an hour in between scenes. A bunch of us got sleeping bags and snacks and made it a party backstage while we waited to go on! If you cannot decide between movies or musicals, with Netflix you do not need to make a choice! This month they have a ton of both you can watch with the entire family!
My daughter is a huge fan of Idina Menzel who sings “Let It GO” in the movie “Frozen”. I must admit, there were a few times I was wishing she would let that song go and move on to something new! I have seen “Rent”, but did not realize Idina Menzel was in the screen version of the hit Broadway play. This month, Caitlin and I are able to watch this favorite musical of mine together, which is pretty cool. Henry is a big fan of the Shrek movies, so when he found there was a musical of the popular movie, he could not wait to see it. I must admit, I was a little hesitant to see the musical version of an animated film, but surprisingly, it is really fun to watch, has lots of catchy tunes and exciting dance scenes.
One of my favorite musicals, “The Phantom Of The Opera”, I was fortunate enough to see at the Fox theater in Atlanta in 1994. It was one of the most exciting times in my life and I was awestruck from the moment it started to it’s heart stopping end. I could not believe Netflix has “The Phantom Of The Opera” at the famous Albert Hall in London available to month. What a stunning version of this popular musical, with songs written by Andrew Lloyd Weber. If you want the kids to get interested in plays and musicals, they can make this adorable No Sew Stage Curtain.
